The venue for the 7th Junior World Cup 2026 is Vianden. Vianden is a small town in the northeast of Luxembourg and attracts tourists from all over the world due to its beautiful location, the castle, the chairlift, numerous restaurants and hotels, a mini golf course and much more. The famous Veiner Nëssmoort (Nut market) and the medieval festival take place here every year, as do other regional and unique events such as the Veiner Pabeier- a Béicherdeeg (Paper- and Bookdays), the fair, the Baachefest (Local festivities with concerts) and the Veiner Miertchen (Unique Castle burning with torchlight procession).

Vianden also has a strong sporting tradition. The village is home to both a football and a table tennis club, and has hosted several international sporting events. On June 21, 2026, the Eislek Gravel Luxembourg race of the UCI Gravel World Series will take place here for the second time. Furthermore, on two occasions the queen stage of the Skoda Tour de Luxembourg passed through Vianden, featuring a challenging cobblestone climb and a breathtaking finish right inside the castle.

The chairlift (cable car) in Vianden is one of the most popular attractions in the region. It is the only chairlift in Luxembourg and takes visitors up to a height of about 440 meters, offering a stunning panoramic view of the town, the valley, and the famous castle. It is a perfect activity to enjoy nature and see Vianden from above.

During the summer season (July to August), the chairlift is open every day from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The last ride up is usually 30 minutes before closing time.

The outdoor swimming pool in Vianden is a popular attraction during the summer. The Nat’Our Route in Vianden is a beautiful hiking trail located in the Our Valley, offering an immersive experience in nature. The route passes through forests, hills, and along the River Our, with stunning views of the surrounding landscape and even the castle of Vianden. It is ideal for nature lovers and hikers who want to explore the region in a peaceful setting.

One of the most popular sections, the “Nat’Our Route 4 – Our Valley Loop,” is about 15.4 km long and takes around 4.5 hours to complete. It has a moderate difficulty level with around 430 meters of elevation gain. 

The trail usually starts in Bivels and leads through scenic viewpoints, forests, and past the hydroelectric power station. Overall, the Nat’Our Route offers a perfect combination of nature, exercise, and impressive panoramas in the Vianden region.

The Ourdall Promenade is a beautiful hiking trail near Vianden, perfect for nature lovers and outdoor activities. The route follows the Our Valley between Vianden and Stolzembourg and offers scenic views of forests, rocks, and the river.

The trail is about 8.8 km long and takes around 2 to 2.5 hours to complete. It is considered moderately difficult, with only small elevation changes, making it suitable for most visitors with a basic level of fitness. One special feature of the hike is the presence of wooden walkways built along the rocks, as well as several themed stations that explain the history and landscape of the region.

The route can be started in Vianden (parking at Rue du Vieux Marché) and ends in Stolzembourg, with the possibility to return by bus. Overall, the Ourdall Promenade is an ideal walk combining nature, relaxation, and impressive views of the valley and surrounding area.

The Éislek Pad Vianden is a scenic hiking trail in the region of Vianden, perfect for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. The route offers breathtaking panoramic views over the Our Valley, as well as impressive sights of the town and its famous castle. Along the way, hikers can enjoy forests, hills, and viewpoints such as the Victor Hugo viewpoint.

The trail is حوالي 9.3 km long and takes about 3 hours to complete. It has a moderate difficulty level, with around 370 meters of elevation gain, so a good basic fitness level is recommended. 

The hike is well marked and starts near a parking area, making it easy to access. Overall, the Éislek Pad Vianden offers a perfect combination of nature, exercise, and spectacular views of the Luxembourg Ardennes.

The Victor Hugo House is one of the most important cultural attractions in Vianden. It is located in the house where the famous French writer Victor Hugo lived during his exile in 1871. Today, the museum presents his life and work, including manuscripts, drawings, and personal objects. Visitors can explore the original rooms and learn more about his connection to Vianden.

During the summer season (April to October), the museum is open daily from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., except on Mondays. The entrance fee is about 6 €, while children and students up to 25 years can enter for free.
